Well pre-fishing days I took off all my hooks that I could, like topwater baits. Punker, BBZ, spook type bait and threw these with success. Fish that were coming up on them I could see them, they ranged from 7-10lbs. Then had some bites on a hudd but didn’t swing. Game day, started off with topwater and nothing, threw the hudd throughout the day with about 3 taps. I saw fish under my topwater baits but they would not commit. Finally threw a jig and lost a good one (4-5lb range) in a tree then caught another that was small. Remember always weigh your fish. Took 9th out of some of the top big bait fisherman. Fun tourney. Can’t wait for the Delta event in August.
